Source: PA DEP radon test results by zip code, read Sep 2026. Averages at or above 4 pCi/L are marked.
What do these numbers show?
They are PA DEP's results from homes tested in each zip code: how many tests, the average, and the highest reading, in the basement and on the first floor. They show how common high radon is near you.
They can't tell you your own level. Two houses on the same street can read very differently, so test your home.
Which zip codes are included?
Zip codes that are mostly in York County, using the US Census Bureau's zip to county file. DEP doesn't publish results for a zip with too few tests.
What do people ask?
How common is radon in York County basements?
Very common. In PA DEP's results, every York County zip code with published results has a basement average of 4 pCi/L or more, EPA's level for fixing a home.

No. Radon varies from house to house, even next door. EPA says the only way to know your level is to test your home.
