Questions to ask a radon mitigator
About the company
- Can I see your PA DEP certification number and photo ID badge?
- Can you give references or photos, and before and after radon results from past jobs?
- Do you carry liability insurance? Can I see proof?
About my home
- Will you come to my house before giving a price?
- Did you look at my radon test results and check the test was done properly?
- Do you charge for diagnostic tests? Will I need them?
- What will the work involve, and how long will it take?
- How will the system work, and where will the pipe and fan go?
About the result
- Do you guarantee in writing to get my home below 4 pCi/L for the quoted price? For how long?
- Will you fit a warning device that tells me if the system stops working?
- Is the test after installation included in the price?
- What warranty comes with the fan and other parts? Does it transfer if I sell?
